MPhil in Clinical Psychology

Introduction: M. Phil in Clinical Psychology is a two-year post-graduation course aimed at producing qualified professional clinical psychologists who can offer diagnostic, therapeutic, rehabilitative, and administrative services to promote mental and physical health. Mental health problems are on the rise, and this course equips students with the knowledge and methods from all substantive fields of biopsychosocial sciences to tackle these issues.

Aim: The primary aim of this course is to prepare trainees to function as qualified professional clinical psychologists in the areas of mental and physical health. By providing extensive theoretical inputs and widespread clinical experience, this course equips students with the necessary skills to offer diagnostic, therapeutic, and rehabilitative services to promote the well-being and quality of life of individuals.
Objectives: On completion of the course, the trainee is expected to perform various functions such as: -Diagnosing mental health problems, -Conceptualizing adult and child mental health problems within a psychological framework, -Carrying out relevant treatment and management, -Working with the psychosocial dimensions of physical diseases, and -Undertaking research in the areas of clinical psychology. They will also undertake responsibilities connected with teaching and training in core and allied areas of Clinical Psychology, administrative and supervisory/decision-making responsibilities in mental health areas.

Entry Requirements: The minimum educational requirement for admission to this course is a 2-year M.A./M.Sc. degree in Psychology from a university recognized by the UGC with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate. For SC/ST category, a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate is essential, as per GOI. During the two years of training, a minimum prescribed clinical work is required to be completed.
